PET PORTRAIT

Sometimes an ongoing painting asks me for some more time. Then I have to choose between allowing to stand or finishing it. Normally the second option makes me fell uneasy, but circumstances can force a quick end.

 

Now I'm facing again that dilema. I'm dealing with a rather special project, maybe the start of a new series, and the work is pleading with me for a pause and some slowness. But on the other hand, between my new year's resolutions for 2015 was posting at least once a month.

 

This time I'm going to choose hearing the paintings demands. So I show an old work in this post, a pet portrait, one of firsts, painted about 8 years ago.

En ocasiones la pintura que estoy realizando me pide algo más de tiempo. Entonces tengo que elegir entre dejarla reposar unos días o proceder a terminarla. Normalmente la segunda opción me hace sentir mal, pero las circunstancias pueden forzarme a un final más rápido.

 

En este momento me enfrento una vez más a este dilema. Estoy con un proyecto un tanto especial, que podría ser el comienzo de una nueva serie, y la obra me está pidiendo una pausa y lentitud. Pero por otra parte, me hice el propósito para este año de hacer un post al menos una vez al mes.

 

En esta ocasión voy a elegir escuchar las peticiones de la pintura. Es por ello que ahora muestro un trabajo antiguo, un retrato de mascota, uno de los primeros, pintado unos ocho años atrás.

The Fith Centenary of the Birth of Santa Teresa of Jesús

Countless events are taking place all over Spain to mark this Fith Centenary and not a few are art exhibitions. I'm taking part in one of them, organized by "La Carpa", a local Society of Artist from Getafe (Spain).

The work is inspired in one of the first writings of Santa Teresa, "Vision of Hell", that can be read in this link:

Por toda España se están celebrando numerosos eventos relacionados con este V Centenario y no pocos son exposiciones artísticas. Yo participo en una organizada por "La Carpa" una Asociación de artistas de Getafe (España).

El trabajo se inspira en uno de los primeros escritos de la Santa, "La visión del infierno".

Como es habitual, aquí muestro la pintura y, además, hay dos fotografías de la exposición.

BIRD WITH YELLOW FEATHERS

This very morning I've sigthed a western bonelli's warbler in the Central Park of Tres Cantos. This species is more common in Spain than we think, though that birds haven't got a very bright appearance and they are very likely to be confused  with young female sparrows. But when taking off its yellow feathers become more visible and the individual easier to identify..

The picture I've used as a reference is by a Spanish photographer, Javier Cañadas, whose works can be admired in his blog:

Esta misma mañana he visto un mosquitero papialvo en el Parque Central de Tres Cantos. Esta especie es más común en España de lo que pensamos, aunque no es muy vistoso y es fácil de confundir con una hembra joven de gorrión. Sin embargo, cuando levanta el vuelo, sus plumas amarillas se hacen muy visibles y el sujeto más fácil de identificar.

SIMPLY A PORTRAIT

This is an old portrait of my son Daniel when he was four. He was handling one of his favourites toys in that time: a water gun. He was stalking a street cat.

Not a recent work because I've had a lot of changes in my life and now it's difficult to find the quietness and even the time for art work. But I'm confident of being able to cope with all that and soon I will retake the usual work rate.

Este es un retrato ya antiguo de mi hijo Daniel. Tiene en las manos uno de sus juguetes favoritos de aquel entonces: una pistola de agua. Estaba entonces acechando a un gato callejero.

No es un trabajo reciente porque ultimamente he tenido un montón de cambios en mu vida y ahora me resulta difícil encontrar la tranqilidad, e incluso el tiempo, necesarios para el trabajo artístico. Pero aún así confío en mi capacidad de adaptación y en que pronto recuperaré mi habitual ritmo de trabajo.
