This time the sitter was a boston terrier and the client wanted a seascape background. This sort of commission always implies a lot of trouble.
First of all you need to agree very clearly on what it is they want you to make. In this case, ¿What did they mean with seascape? ¿A sunset? ¿Boats and palms?; And how much room for the portrait itself and for the seascape background?; and so on. Nevertheless, some talk and scores of sketches later I got mi mind around their expectations.

But then I had to paint it and as Stapleton Kearns says, "The canid is always dead in those deals, and appears only in one out of focus photograph". In any case, at that time I really felt like painting it and I went on. Now I'm proud to have done it.

Ya va siendo la hora de otro retrato de mascotas.
Esta vez el modelo fue un boston terrier y el cliente quería una marina de fondo. Este tipo de encargos siempre supone muchas complicaciones.
En primer lugar, hay que acordar de forma muy clara qué es lo que ellos quieren que hagas. En este caso cabía preguntarse ¿Qué entendían por marina?¿Una puesta de sol?¿Barcos y palmeras?; o también, ¿Cuánta superficie debía ocupar el retrato propiamente dicho y cuánto el paisaje de fondo?; Etc. No obstante, después de mucho hablar y de realizar varios dibujos conseguí hacerme una idea de sus expectativas.

Pero entonces tenía que pintarlo y como Stapleton Kearns dice "en estos lances el can ya ha muerto y sólo queda de él una fotografía desenfocada". En cualquier caso, en aquel entonces yo tenía muchas ganas de pintarlo y seguí adelante. Ahora me siento orgulloso de haberlo hecho.
